Skyboot AI Markdown Troubleshooting and FAQ

Most Skyboot AI Markdown problems have a quick fix: refresh permalinks for 404 errors, purge your CDN for old llms.txt content, and run the crawler access test when analytics stay empty. Find your problem below, or see the FAQ at the end.

Why do /llms.txt or .md URLs show a 404 page? #

WordPress has not loaded the plugin’s URL rules yet.

  1. Go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes without changing anything. This refreshes WordPress’s URL rules.
  2. Make sure permalinks are not set to “Plain”.
  3. Under AI Markdown > System Status, click Flush Rewrites & Clear Transients.

Why does the AI Markdown menu appear twice? #

Versions 2.7.0 and earlier could add the menu again after activation, updates, settings saves or exports. Update to 2.7.1 or later and reload the admin page.

Why can’t a user see the AI Markdown menu or a tab? #

They do not have permission for it. An administrator can grant it under AI Markdown > Permissions, by role or for that person. See Permissions.

Why does llms.txt show old content? #

  • Click Sync & Regenerate /llms.txt File on the Settings tab.
  • If you use Cloudflare or another CDN, purge /llms.txt there. CDNs can keep it for up to one day.
  • If another plugin (for example Rank Math) also generates llms.txt, turn its llms.txt feature off so only one plugin serves the file.

Why is a page missing from llms.txt? #

It is usually left out on purpose. Check whether the page is:

  • set to noindex in your SEO plugin,
  • password-protected,
  • a cart, checkout, account, privacy or terms page,
  • a hidden WooCommerce product,
  • of a content type unticked under AI Visibility > Settings > Content types.

Why are docs, products or other custom post types missing from llms.txt? #

Versions before 2.7.2 could build llms.txt before other plugins (BetterDocs, WooCommerce, portfolio or theme post types) had registered their content, so those sections were missing. Update to 2.7.2 or later, then purge /llms.txt in your CDN.

Why do my own visits show up in AI Analytics? #

Logged-in users are never counted. Visits while logged out, and crawler tests from your own computer, are counted until you exclude your IP address: click Exclude my IP on the AI Analytics tab. See how to exclude your own visits.

Why does AI Analytics show no data? #

  • On a local or staging site this is expected: AI crawlers cannot reach it, and internal traffic is never counted.
  • On a live site, run the crawler access test under AI Visibility. Blocked crawlers mean no data.
  • If Cloudflare caches your HTML pages (“Cache Everything”), most crawler visits never reach WordPress. Visitors from AI are still counted.
  • New sites often wait a few days to a few weeks for the first verified AI visit.

Why are Claude visits listed but not counted? #

Anthropic does not publish crawler IP addresses, so Claude visits cannot be verified. Turn off Count IP-verified crawlers only if you want them in the totals.

Why does the crawler access test show “Blocked”? #

Usually Cloudflare’s bot settings or a security plugin’s bot blocking. See how to check if AI crawlers can access your site.

Why does IndexNow show “Forbidden”? #

The search engine could not read your key file. Open the key file link in the IndexNow panel. If it does not load, allow /<key>.txt in your firewall or CDN.

Why is “Update post” not available in Review & Fix? #

The page is built with Elementor, Divi, WPBakery or Bricks. Its content lives in the builder, so the plugin does not overwrite it. Copy the improved text into the builder instead.

What do the “Generate fix” errors mean? #

MessageFix
HTTP 401 / invalid API keyPaste the key again under AI Visibility > AI fixing
HTTP 404 / model not foundClick Fetch models and choose a model from the list
HTTP 429Your provider’s rate limit or credit is used up. Wait, or add credit
The answer was cut offThe page is very long. Use the ChatGPT or Claude button instead

Why is a page missing from the readiness scan? #

It was removed from the scan (see AI Visibility > Excluded from the scan to add it back), it is not published, it is a checkout, cart or account page, its content type is unticked under Content types, or it is a page-builder template or widget, which is never scored.

Why does “Fix this issue” refuse to write? #

MessageMeaning
The page has only N words of contentThe page is too thin for AI to write that part without inventing facts. Add content first
This page has no H2/H3 headings to rewriteAdd section headings first
The page does not contain enough informationThe AI found nothing on the page to base the part on
Check before applying… numbers that are not on the pageThe text contains facts that are not on your page. Correct it, or confirm only if you know it is right

Why did imported FAQs not become my SEO plugin’s FAQ block? #

Versions before 2.7.5 created FAQ markup that the block editor did not accept, so the FAQ opened as a Custom HTML block, and versions before 2.7.4 also lost the FAQ data when the post was saved. Update to 2.7.5 or later, delete the imported post and import the file again. The FAQ format is set under Settings > SEO FAQ Block Import Format, and it should match the SEO plugin you use.

Why did one .md file create two posts? #

Versions before 2.7.4 split a file at the closing --- of its front matter. Update to 2.7.4 or later, delete the extra post and import the file again.

Why does Latest activity show “html” for almost every visit? #

That is normal. AI assistants open the page URLs they find in search results, which are your normal HTML pages. They receive Markdown (md) only when they follow a .md link from llms.txt or ask for Markdown. Serving Markdown to crawlers on your normal URLs would count as cloaking for search engines, so the plugin never does it.

Why does the Markdown include text from another plugin? #

The Markdown version is built from your post content with WordPress’s the_content filter, so plugins that add text to the content (share buttons, related posts) can appear in it. Most do not. If one does, a developer can remove it with the skyboot_ai_md_noise_shortcodes filter or by unhooking that plugin in Markdown requests. See Developer Hooks.

How often is the AI Analytics data updated? #

Continuously. Every crawler or AI visit is recorded when it happens, after the page has been sent, so visitors never wait. Only the crawler IP lists are downloaded on a schedule, once a day.

Does the Markdown work on multilingual sites? #

The Markdown version is built from each page’s own content, so it is in that page’s language. The language field in the front matter is the site language that WordPress reports for the request.

FAQ #

Does Skyboot AI Markdown guarantee that AI will cite my site? #

No tool can. The plugin removes the technical barriers (blocked crawlers, slow discovery, pages AI cannot parse) and shows how to improve your content. Citations still depend on answering questions well, with real facts, and on your reputation outside your site.

Will Markdown pages hurt my SEO? #

No. Markdown versions send noindex and a canonical link to the real page, and normal visitors and Googlebot never get Markdown on your normal URLs.

Does Google use llms.txt? #

Google Search does not use llms.txt. AI agents and tools that look for the file read it. The Markdown pages, IndexNow, crawler checks and content readiness help either way.

Does the plugin slow down my site? #

Not noticeably. Markdown is generated only when requested, then cached. Crawler checks run after the page has been sent, and the visitor script is about 1 KB.

Does it work with page builders? #

Yes. Markdown is generated from the rendered page content, so Elementor and other builder pages are included. AI fixes are applied by hand on builder pages.
