Review Methodology

This is how we review and compare WordPress plugins, themes, hosting, AI tools, and other website tools. We follow the same core criteria across our reviews, while the testing process may vary depending on the product and access available.

What We Test

WordPress plugins and themes, Gutenberg blocks, WooCommerce extensions, WordPress and VPS hosting, AI tools, and website SaaS tools.

What We Score

  • Setup: how easy it is to install, configure, and start using the product
  • Features: whether the product delivers what it claims, based on our own testing where direct access is available
  • Performance: load time and resource use, measured directly for hosting and performance-focused products where practical
  • Security: update history, known vulnerabilities, security-related practices, and data handling
  • Support: response quality, availability, and documentation
  • Price versus what you get: value compared with direct competitors and alternative solutions
  • Independent reputation: WordPress.org ratings and support forum activity, where available, considered alongside our own testing

How We Test

If we can access a free tier, trial, or license, we install the product and use it ourselves.

When direct access isn’t possible, we clearly indicate that in the article and rely on documented specifications, official documentation, and confirmed vendor information rather than guessing.

For hosting and other products where performance can be measured directly, we use practical testing where appropriate. Testing methods may vary depending on the product and what can reasonably be measured.

Ratings Are Not for Sale

Our scores and recommendations are based on the criteria above. Affiliate commissions do not determine our ratings or recommendations.

Full details about our affiliate relationships are available in our Affiliate Disclosure.

When We Review Our Own Products

We publish WordPress plugins under the SkyBootstrap name, including products such as Skyboot Custom Icons for Elementor and Skyboot Portfolio Gallery for Elementor.

If we review a category where we sell a competing product, we disclose that relationship in the article. Our own products are evaluated using the same core criteria we apply to competing products.

Reviews Get Updated

We aim to review and update our content when major product updates, significant pricing changes, or other important developments could affect the accuracy of a review.

Every review shows a last-updated date so readers can see when the content was most recently reviewed.
